Millennial Samurai is intended to encourage and facilitate critical thinking by exploring and explaining many of the most important issues, concepts and technologies that will redefine life as we know it during the 21st Century.

Change is coming, the next years will create significance disruption. Artificial Intelligence will exceed human intelligence and will redefine life as we know it; machines do virtually everything faster, cheaper and more efficiently than humans. The world no longer needs unskilled labor with this tsunami of technological change. The medias are no longer a source of objective information, they amplify the need of critical thinking and discernement. We need to afford the luxury of thinking about these things. We need to adapt to a rapidly and radically changing environnement by embracing core values that have allowed prior generations to succeed while developing their own system.

Millennials are the most educated, technically advanced, socially networked, ethnically diverse and globally oriented generation in human history. It is a highly intelligent and complex generation. They have been taught to value individually and see themselves as independent thinkers. They are not defined by their jobs but they want to define them; they have high expectations and won’t stay at jobs they find unfulfilling. Money alone doesn’t motivate them. They place quality of life first and work second. They believe in working smarter not harder and that advances in technology and mobility should allow them to work anywhere there is a wifi connection. How the futur of humanity will be defined and experienced over the next 30 years will, in large part, be the opportunity and responsibility of Millennials regardless on how anyone may choose to characterize them.

Samurai were the elite of pre-modern Japan. They dominated Japanese politics, economics and social policies between the twelfth and nineteenth centuries and they were also known for their political, financial and cultural acumen. Many were highly educated. They initially rose to power as warriors. Their main weapon and symbol was the sword. Samurai led their lives according to the ethical code of “Bushido” (the way of the warrior). Bushido stressed concepts such as loyalty to one’s master, self-discipline, frugality, kindness, honesty and respectful ethical behavior. Courage, Loyalty, Veracity, Compassion and Honour were revered above life itself. Bushido’s 8 Virtues are: Justice, Courage (doing what is right), Benevolence, Politeness, Honesty and Sincerity, Honor, Loyalty and Self-Control.

Millennials Samurai will be those who rise the challenge of the 21th Century. They will be the Century’s elite class of social, political and economic warriors. They will be highly intelligent, technologically advanced, socially networked, globally oriented and fundamentally grounded in both ancient and modern core values. Their elite status will be earned as a result of performance and virtue. They will be those who are committed to developing and maintaining expertise in emerging technologies and leveraging those technologies to advance social, political and economic objectives that serve the humanity with an open mind, an ability to think for themselves, an ability to communicate effectively and more through a process of lifelong learning.
